LoginThe origin of speed dating can be dated back to the Jewish culture of Aish HaTorah. The culture provides 'Speed Dating' as a social gathering for young Jewish men and women to come together, meet and marry. The concept of speed dating is to make young men and women have a short date of around minutes, after which they're rotated to have yet another date with someone else. At the end of this event, the participants are requested to submit their choice of date whom they would want to know more to the organizers. The organizers go through the list and if there is a match, the contact details of both the participants are sent across to each other. The last procedure isn't done openly and pronounced so as to avoid the dismay of rejection amongst the participants. The participants are randomly paired for the duration and go in a certain sequence so as to avoid repetition. The minute time-frame requires a participant to keep the conversations precise and to the point, without the drag and the long awkward moments of silence. Speed Dating, unlike social gatherings at pubs, bars, etc. Presentation and communication skills go a long way in speed dating.
This event, organized by a Meetup group that claimed it was the first time such an event was organized in Bangalore, had all the rules right. The rules were simple. Each guy was promised to meet three females of their choice and each woman was promised to meet five guys. The names of the organizers and venue details were to be revealed at the last moment. It was also promised that the identities of the participants will be kept confidential to all others until they find their date. The event was well planned, rules set correctly following good standards. It has also set the right expectations from the beginning.

Sustainable development is a hot topic in the run-up to COP But how should the private sector engage, especially in a frenetic market like India? Substantial concerns remain, however, about the effectiveness of VGF in catalyzing private sector participation in sustainable development.
