LoginLily is going to teach you how to start dating with confidence. Neutralize your dating history with self-compassion. History does not mean anything about what is possible. Bring on a community that supports the hell out of you. Welcome to another episode of the date brazen podcast. I'm so glad that you're here before we dive into today's episode. I want to share a little story and experience from a recent brazen breakthrough member who shared what it's like to be inside this program. What results she's seen inside of this program.
Everyone has a single friend who always gives good advice but has never really been in a relationship. I gained all my insight on dating and relationships through observing friends and family, social media and characters in TV and movies. Meanwhile, I never had much of a dating life of my own. Growing up in a predominantly white neighbourhood, I put my non-existent love life down to being a black girl. I made the naive mistake of thinking college would be my opportunity to meet new people and finally explore dating. Instead, I would listen to friends talk about their boy mishaps, sex stories and situationships, while I stayed single. It seemed as if dating was happening to only those around me.
On her TikTok , Krystal has built a modest following not only from videos of her singing and sharing her music but from talking about her life as a self-described late bloomer. In recent years, the discussions surrounding romantic loneliness have put men squarely at the center of the topic. It was on one of my many TikTok rabbit holes a few years ago, however, when I stumbled across a community of Black women who, like Krystal, express their frustrations with having to find love and romance later in life. Unlike other late bloomers, this young woman has been in a relationship, including one that ended only eight months ago, but she says she felt unfulfilled in part because of feeling pressured by societal standards to get into a relationship. Krystal has made several attempts at putting herself out there including going on dating apps which she says has only made her uncomfortable. A few people have also suggested she move from the predominately white city she lives in to a Blacker city like Atlanta.
Okay, here' goes Never experienced anything more intimate than a hug, never had a woman romantically interested in me that I know of. I was never too worked up by this as I've had other priorities in recent years, but this year I've found myself wondering and daydreaming more and more. I think part of it is feeling old I know you'll disagree, but given the rich social lives most of my peers have compared to me, I haven't accomplished much for my age , and part of it is, quite frankly, missing hanging out with women, which I've barely done in the 3 years since graduating.
