What It’s Like to Go to the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival in Ireland

We have had a breakup with life in the last few years. With Same-sex marriage equality in in Ireland, the festival has, with the help of Queen of Matchmaking Eddie McGuinness, brought together hundreds of couples and even a few marriages too and few more on the way even a wedding this year in July. With some teaching from the 4th generation of Matchmaking, Willie Daly. Going into our 10th year as a festival, we never stop bringing people together, even in covid happening by going online and showcasing outstanding singer-songwriters to artists and bits of Fabulous Drag from Panti to Ru Paul Ryder to Carrie Deweyy, even bringing in international drag artists with an Irish connection. This is a new twist on an old tradition with an extra Rainbow put in to make things happen, said Eddie McGuinness, Queen of Matchmaking. For over 10 years, we hosted our festival in Co. Lisdoonvarna, a little village in Ireland, has been celebrating the Matchmaking Festival since the midth century. It started with a surgeon discovering the beneficial effects of its water and from there the popularity of the mineral springs would, with the harvest safely in, bring hundreds of bachelor farmers to town in search of a wife. Finding a mate today is more relevant than ever before. When it comes to professionals, more are single much older than previous generations. Not all is intentional though as the popularity of services — like Tinder — is ever increasing. There is a huge demand and a bigger supply.
