LoginOne of the most exciting reference sources for attributing and dating vintage jewelry is the advertising in magazines from years past. These wonderful old ads illustrate how jewelry was worn, when it was made, and how it coordinated with the styles of the time. Many of these ads were shared courtesy of Julie Scarlett, who sells vintage ads under the seller name papercharm on ebay. As CORO they are familiar to all costume jewelry lovers. Vendome , Corocraft , and Duette are just three examples. In general, the Coro mark was on the more modestly priced jewelry while Corocraft, Vendome and Francois were the higher priced lines. Gene Verri was one of the best known of the designers, but there were many others responsible for the wonderful style of Coro jewelry. Vendome, best known for glittering glass beaded necklaces and earrings, also featured other wonderful pieces such as the cabochon and rhinestone pieces pictured below. Those are certinly my favorites, and they are harder to find than the glass bead jewelry.

Coro production ceased in , except for Coro, Inc, in Canada, which was still operational in The "Coro" mark, which is most common, was in use since The Pegasus mark was used after the war. Coro used many additional marks. Matching sets were generally more popular in the late 40s and 50s and the WWII vermeil era was generally more about pins and brooches.
