Celibacy is a personal journey, but I hope what I can offer helps you as much as it has helped me. I know it sounds small, but I worry about myself. Spending most of my twenties not having sex and discovering who I am has allowed me to succeed in various aspects. When I became celibate, I had to get specific on dating and what type of men I wanted to know. In the beginning, I was naive. Dating as a celibate person can be a beautiful thing, but with boundaries. I read many Bible plans on celibacy, follow Instagram pages to hold me accountable, and watch many YouTube sermons to help stay focused. I watch sermons, such as sex container with Pastor Michael Todd, and interviews with Hollywood couple Devon Franklin and Meagan Good, and listen to various podcast episodes. I just have to look for it. In those moments, I find myself questioning is it worth it, I have a raw conversation with God.

We live in a day and age where sex is more valued than love. Kids today are snapchatting nudes, trying to amass social media followers, and exchanging sexual favors. As it gets harder for many to live without falling easily to instant gratification and relying on sex as a mode of communication, there are those out there whose focus is solely to abstain from that lifestyle and wait for love. It is an absolute honor for me, a man with a sexual past, yet made the choice to be celibate and wait until marriage with my wife, to share some insights with you:.

We need to know : How can we remain celibate while dating? So, whoever rejects and disregards this is not [merely] rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you [to dwell in you and empower you to overcome temptation]. So, how can we cooperate with the Spirit and practice self-control in this area? Setting healthy boundaries will help you avoid unnecessary temptation and awkwardness. Things can happen fast and one moment of passion can quickly escalate. To avoid this you can try to set parameters for dating.

Four Years of Celibacy: Here’s How I’ve Stayed Focused

Without a doubt, celibacy was the best decision I've ever made. I gave far too much of myself in my last relationship, and when it started to deteriorate I made a promise that moving forward, I wouldn't compromise my morals for a man again. I walked into my relationship happy, and eager to have sex with a man I loved, but I walked out broken using my body as a means to keep us together when I knew years before, it was time to leave. But the beautiful thing about celibacy is that it's taught me so much more than just how to abstain from sex and toxic men. It's brought me closer to God, given me immense self-control, confidence , and it's allowed me to tap into talents inside myself; I never knew I had.
